[Workshop Munich] Preparing for a Doctoral Project

12.06.2017 - 2017-06-14

The Graduate School's workshop "Preparing for a Doctoral Project" takes place in Munich on June 12-14, 2017. It is directed at graduates from universities abroad who consider to apply for a PhD program in Germany, related to East and Southeast European Studies, or for the PhD program of the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies itself.

Every year in June the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies organizes a three-day-long preparatory workshop for graduates from abroad who would like to apply for a PhD program in Germany and respectively at the Graduate School.

Postdocs of different disciplines who are currently working at the Graduate School, will discuss with the workshop's participants the most important aspects about the application procedures for PhD programs - whether individual or structured - in Germany and how to prepare optimally. Furthermore the participants will work on the research design of their proposed doctoral projects during the workshop.

Under the postdocs' guidance and in dialog with the other participants, first drafts of the doctoral projects shall be formulated into significant synopses which can later on be used for the application for a PhD program or an academic job in Germany. Besides there is the opportunity to get to know the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies and the site of Munich and Regensburg.

A successful application for the workshop is required (till May 14, 2017), see "Call for Applications".
