[Conference Munich] "The Tsarist/Soviet Empires and the History of Modernity in Asia"

Entanglements between Tsarist/Soviet and Asian modernities since the late 19th century will be in focus of the international conference "The Tsarist/Soviet empires and the history of modernity in Asia", which will take place in Munich 12 - 13 September 2017. It is hosted by the Chair of Russian-Asian Studies at LMU Munich and the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies.

[Forum Munich] Ronald Suny (Chicago/Ann Arbor): "Modernizing Imperialisms: The Making and Breaking of Nations in the Tsarist and Soviet Empires"

On September 12, 2017, Prof. Dr. Ronald Suny (Chicago/Ann Arbor) is going to deliver a paper on "Modernizing Imperialisms: The Making and Breaking of Nations in the Tsarist and Soviet Empires" at the Graduate School in Munich as public Evening Lecture of the international conference "The Tsarist/Soviet empires and the history of modernity in Asia". The lecture is part of the Graduate School's event series "Forum" and will be open to the public.

Summer School 2017

"Change in an interdisciplinary Perspective" will be title and topic of the Summer School 2017, which the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies and the Honours Masters’ Programme "East European Studies" are again organizing jointly. It wil take place 19 to 26 September in the Russian metropolis St. Petersburg. Local cooperation partner is the Higher School of Ecomomics (HSE) represented by Prof. Alexander M. Semyonov, Ph.D.
