The Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies creates places of exchange between scholars at different stages in their career, from different countries as well as disciplinary backgrounds. Furthermore, we promote the transfer of knowledge to the general public.

Summer School 2018

"THE LIQUID CITY. Adriatic Life-worlds in Transformation": In 2018, the joint Summer School of the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies and of the Elite Graduate Program for East European Studies will deal with different aspects of life at and with the (Mediterranean) sea from an interdisciplinary perspective. The summer school will take place from September 16-22, 2018, in the Croatian port of Rijeka. Local cooperation partner is the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Rijeka.

[Conference Munich] "Routes and Contact Zones. Artistic Mobility and Exchange in Central Eastern and North Eastern Europe"

From October 11 to October 13, 2018, the international conference "Routes and Contact Zones. Artistic Mobility and Exchange in Central Eastern and North Eastern Europe" will take place at the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte (ZI) in Munich. Within this framework the 26th conference of the Working Group of German and Polish Art Historians and Conservationists as well as the Homburg Talk of the Böckler-Mare-Balticum Foundation and the Symposium of the Institute for Art History of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich will discuss this topic.
