Privacy Statement

As a website operator, The Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies takes the protection of your data very seriously. The Graduate School always treats your personal data confidentially and in accordance with legal regulations, in particular in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU-GDPR) and the Bavarian Data Protection Act (BayDSG).

Keep in mind that there might be security gaps when transmitting data on the internet. Full protection against access by strangers is not possible.

Every time you access our website, our web servers temporarily store the following information in a log file:

  • IP address of the requesting computer
  • Date and time of access
  • Name, URL and and amount of data up-/downloaded from the website
  • State of access (requested file transfer, not found, etc.)
  • Identification data of the browser and operating system used (if transmitted by the requesting web browser)
  • Website from which access was made (if provided by the requesting web browser)

The processing of the data in this log file occurs as follows:

  • The log entries are constantly automatically evaluated in order to detect attacks on the web server and to be able to react accordingly.
  • In individual cases, i.e. for reported malfunctions, errors and security incidents, a manual analysis is performed.
  • Log entries that are older than seven days are anonymized by shortening the IP address.
  • The anonymized logs are used to create access statistics. The software used for this purpose is operated locally by the Leibniz Computer Center (LRZ) of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences.

The IP addresses incorporated in the log entries are not combined with other data stocks by the LRZ, so that the LRZ cannot draw any conclusions about individual persons.

We do not use any kind of user tracking.

Personal data that you may receive via contact forms, registration forms and similar websites on our web servers will only be accepted with your consent and will be used for the purpose stated on the forms only. Please note the relevant information on the forms.

On our website there are cross-references ("links") to other Internet offers. Through those cross-references, the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies provides only access to this content (§ 8 Telemedia Act). It is not responsible for their content, as it does not initiate the transmission of information, does not select the recipient of the transmitted information and does not select or change the transmitted information. Because of the selected call-up and linking method there is no automatic temporary caching of this information by the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies; it follows that Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies is not responsible for the foreign content.
