Curriculum Vitae

Born in Bonn. After completing his studies in law, including his traineeship, and his Master of Laws from Harvard Law School, he received his Ph.D. and Habilitation from LMU Munich. Since 2010 he has been Professor of Public Law and European Law at University of Regensburg and Senior Fellow at the Hertie School of Governance Berlin.

  • Principal investigator of the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies
  • Advisory board member of Revista Brasileira de Direitos Fundamentais e Justiça
  • Senior Fellow at the Hertie School of Governance, Berlin
  • Member of the board of directors of the "Europaeum – Ost-West-Zentrum der Universität Regensburg" [= Europaeum – East-West-Centre of the University of Regensburg]
  • Mentor at the Max-Weber-Programme of the Studienstiftung der deutschen Volkes (designed for outstanding pupils and students)
