Yuri Slezkine and Kateřina Králová to be Guests at the Graduate School

Visting Research Fellows in Munich and Regensburg

The Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies is pleased to welcome Prof. Yuri Slezkine, PhD, and Kateřina Králová, PhD, as visiting scholars in Munich and Regensburg. Slezkine is a visiting professor at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and the graduate school from January to April 2018 as a "LMU-UCB Research in the Humanities"  Fellow. Králová is a visiting research fellow at the Graduate School in Regensburg in January and July 2018.

Yuri Slezkine is the Jane K. Sather Professor of History at the University of California Berkeley (UCB) and the director of the Berkeley Program in Eurasian and East European Studies at the Institute of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ISEEES). From January to April 2018, he will spend a research period as a visiting professor at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München as part of the "LMU-UCB Research in the Humanities" program. During this time, he is the guest of the graduate school. During his stay in Munich, Slezkine will focus on "German Communists in the House of Government" and "National Texts, National Bards, and Varieties of Nationalism."

Kateřina Králová is an assistant professor of Russian and East European Studies at the Institute of International Studies and head of the Department of Russian and East European Studies at Charles University in Prague. In January and July 2018, she is a visiting research fellow of the Graduate School in Regensburg, after having been invited to the University of Regensburg in May 2017 at the invitation of Prof. Rainer Liedtke. Her research interests include the handling of the Nazi past and the Holocaust, the Greek Civil War, post-conflict societies, and post-war reconstruction in Greece. As part of her stay at the graduate school, she will work on a book on the return of Holocaust survivors to Greece.
