Mentoring

East and Southeast European Studies do not only provide fruitful ground for academic research; experts of Eastern and Southeastern Europe are also needed in politics, industry, culture and society.

It is important to us to support our students in their career development. For this reason we have created a mentoring programme, designed to enhance the students’ employability skills and facilitate their transition from education to employment.

Our mentoring programme has been described as exemplary by the League of European Research Universities.

Our doctoral students are highly qualified for careers beyond academia. This particularly applies for fields like:

  • Intercultural Communication
  • Cultural Envoys / International Organizations / NGOs
  • Political Consultation
  • Media and Journalism
  • Public Trusts
  • International Business
