Der russische Politikwissenschaftler Vladimir Gel'man setzt sich in seinem Vortrag in Regensburg am 9. Mai 2014 mit der These auseinander, dass das derzeitige politische System in Russland ein Fall von "electoral authoritarianism" sei, zeichnet die Entwicklung der letzten Jahre nach und wirft einen Blick auf mögliche Entwicklungspfade in der Zukunft.
Many scholars argue that the political regime in contemporary Russia represented one of the instances of the global phenomenon of electoral authoritarianism. But what are the major features of such a regime in the case of Russia, what are its institutional foundations and political pillars? Why and how did its life cycle – the emergence, development, and further decay – change over time, and which ways might it evolve in the foreseeable future? This lecture seeks answers to these questions.
