Postdoctoral Position in Social Sciences and Eastern Europe Studies

This is a full time post, fixed term for 2 years beginning November 1, 2017. The position is remunerated according to TV-L salary scale E13.

The Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Germany. The Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies is organized jointly by the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich and the Universität Regensburg. The Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies is funded by Germany’s Excellence Initiative since November 2012.

Research at the Graduate School is conducted in three broad, interdisciplinary fields:

  • Social and political change
  • Cultural order
  • Infrastructure, migration and transfers of knowledge

The Graduate School works particularly on the relationship of eastern and south-eastern Europe with other parts of the globe.

Duties

The postdoctoral position is attached to the chair for Social Sciences and Eastern Europe Studies.

It includes contributing to the Graduate School’s academic program as well as a teaching obligation of two semester hours per week.

Requirements

university MA/Diploma
excellent relevant PhD in Political Sciences, Sociology or Political Economics
research experience on East and Southeastern Europe
development of an innovative postdoctoral project
willingness to participate in interdisciplinary work
ability to work in a team
