Freedom of Sciences and Humanities in Hungary Endangered

The present government of Hungary, led by the right-wing Fidesz Party, continues to reorganize the countries scientific landscape by increasing state control on research institutions, funding, and research themes. This systematically endangers the freedom of sciences and humanties in Hungary, as many academics and politicians around the globe have been harshly criticizing. Today, 10 July 2019, the renowned German quality newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung published an article by Professor Dr Martin Schulze Wessel, speaker of the Graduate School, who condemns the recent moves of the Hungarian government, which resulted in funding cuts for the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Schulze Wessel also criticizes the far to mild reactions by EU institutions and other European governments.
