Curriculum Vitae

Born in Hannover. Martin Aust completed a master's degree in Modern and Contemporary History, Eastern European History and Political Science at the University of Hannover and the Free University of Berlin. He was awarded his Ph.D. at FU Berlin in 2002 (supervisor Prof. Dr. Klaus Zernack) and completed his habilitation at the CAU Kiel in 2008. From 2010 to 2015, he was Acting Professor of Eastern European and Russian History at LMU Munich and University Regensburg and Principal Investigator of the Graduate School. In the spring semester 2015, he was as a Guest Professor at the University of Basel. Aust is Honorary Research Associate of the Graduate School and, since October 2015, Professor of History and the Culture of Eastern Europe at the Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms Universität of Bonn.
