Anton Fedyashin, Ph.D., historian at the American University in Washington, D.C. is Visiting Research Fellow at the Graduate School in Munich from May to July 2017. As Associate Professor Fedyashin teaches Russian/Soviet and European history. Her also serves as Director of the American University's Carmel Institute of Russian Culture and History. His area of research is imperial Russian history, although his work covers the entire modern period from the imperial to the post-Soviet era.
Anton Fedyashin received his BA from St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD, where he studied the Great Books. He completed an MA at Harvard University in Russian, East European, and Central Asian Studies and went on to defend his doctoral dissertation on "Liberals under Autocracy: Modernization and Civil Society in Russia, 1866 - 1904" at Georgetown University. Currently Fedyashin is conducting a study on „Superpower Subconscious: The Cold War and the Spy Novel“ and writes a biography of Czar Alexander III. Another book project will deal with post-Soviet conservative thought in Russia.
